Fundraising basics

There are a three ways you can fundraise for the trip:

Via the opportunities we're organising as a district
Details of these will be updated below and also shared in the Disney 2026 Facebook group. We will always let you know before the event how the funds will be allocated.

Via opportunities within your own unit
If the group coming from your unit would like to organise things within the unit then please talk to your leader about this. They will agree how monies will be allocated before each event takes place.

Individual fundraising
Anyone is welcome to do their own fundraising for the event, eg a sponsored event, having a car at a car boot sale, or running a mini game amongst their friends. See below for some resources available. When you pay these funds in to the group account, please ensure you email us to let us know how the funds have been raised and so we can match fund it (if appropriate).

Please also keep an eye on our Facebook group just for leaders, parents and carers attending this Disney trip for any last minute opportunities, communications and/or information.

Company match funding
Do you work for a company that offers match funding to it's employees when they support fundraising events? If so, please get in touch with us so we can talk further about how this might help our cause, not just for you own child but the event as a whole.

Grants
If you know of any grants we might apply for, please let us know.

Guess the name
Why not have a go at raising funds with one of our guess the name cards?

  • You choose the amount someone pays you for a name, and the winning pay-out from the options below and write it on your card.
  • Then 'sell' all the names on your card, asking people to note their own name in the box of the name they've chosen. If you need to take contact numbers, keep these on a separate, secure space, so those looking for names can't see each other's contact details.
  • Once all your names are sold, scratch off the silver circle to reveal the winning name.
  • Ensure the winner receives their cash prize.
  • Send the remaining money to the event bank account, and email us to let us know. We'll even match fund it!

⭐ Stake per square 50p - cash prize £5
⭐ Stake per square £1 - cash prize £10
⭐
Stake per square £2 - cash prize £20

Quiz night at the Old Fox (Coaley)
Date: Monday 16th June 2025
Times: Starting at 7pm
Location: The Old Fox, Coaley
More info: One of our leaders (and a parent of a young member coming on the trip) will organise the quiz itself and raffle. The quiz can be attended by anyone, Girlguiding families as well as the general public. The event usually raises £200+ and is a fun night out too!
We hope to run more of these in the future so if you are a great at leading on a quiz then do let us know.
How you can get involved?
  • Create a quiz round - young members are encouraged to submit a five question quiz round on any topic they choose. Please support them to remember it needs to be suitable for an adult audience in it's difficulty. Email us your quiz rounds to us, along with your young member's name and unit, and if we use the round you'll get a donation towards your fundraising.
  • Spread the word - tell your friends and family about the event and ask them come along. Promotional resources will be shared on our Facebook group.
  • Provide a raffle prize. Please hand this to your leader by Wednesday 12th June.
How will funds be allocated?
  • Anyone providing a raffle prize will get a share of the funds raised.
  • Provide a quiz round that we use in one of our quizzes.
  • A parent/carer is welcome to be the quiz master to earn some of the funds raised.

If anyone would like to take the lead on producing and delivering the quiz, then please let us know.

Dursley Fireworks 2025
Date: 8th November 2025
Location: War Memorial Recreation Ground, Dursley
More info: The district have been running this big community event since 2016 and there is potential for a lot of funds to be raised. About 50% of the funds raised goes to our chosen charity, some supports the other community organisations that help us out, and the remainder (about 25%) comes back to the district.  This portion will support our Disney trip.
How you can get involved?
  • Spread the word - tell your friends and family about the event and ask them come along. Please follow the Dursley Fireworks Facebook page for full details as the event unfolds.
  • Sign up to support the event as a volunteer. Brownies must be accompanied by their own grown up. Guides and Rangers can support the event without a grown up, but the more of the family that help, the bigger your slice of the funds at the end.
  • Provide cakes for the cake stall.
How will funds be allocated?
  • As this is a weather dependant and very large scale, financially-risky event for the district to run, it is important that all helpers know that if the event does not make a profit then they will not receive any funding. The surplus from the event is allocated based on who is involved in helping make the event happen and the level of their involvement.
  • For every person helping out, they will receive a share of the funds raised. For example is a child and parent both help at the event, you will get twice as much as just the child helping. There are two 'shifts', the event itself and the pack down. Helping at both gives you double the funds to your account. Funds from this event are also eligible for the district match funding.
  • Anyone providing cakes will receive a nominal portion of the funds.
