Welcome to Girlguiding in Dursley!Dursley is a town in Gloucestershire, about half way between Bristol and Gloucester. Girlguiding Dursley district covers Dursley and Cam and the surrounding villages including Coaley and Uley.
Dursley is probably most recognisable to the children as being the inspiration to J.K. Rowling for the Dursley family in the Harry Potter books.

Who we areWe help all girls know they can do anything.
We are proud to give girls and young women a space where they can be themselves, have fun, build brilliant friendships, gain valuable life skills and make a positive difference to their lives and their communities. We build girls’ confidence and raise their aspirations. We give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good. |
Girlguiding Dursley district is part of Girlguiding, a national charity and the largest youth organisation in the UK. We run Rainbows (4-7 years), Brownies (7-10 years), Guides (10-14 years) and Rangers (14-18 years).
We're powered by volunteersAll our groups are run by teams of volunteers who give their time freely to support the girls and provide them with amazing adventures and opportunities.
By volunteering with us, you can help girls build their confidence, have adventures, learn new skills and have loads of fun – no matter your experience, your background or how much time you have spare. Becoming a role model doesn't need a full-time commitment – we need volunteers in all sorts of roles. So, if you want to help behind the scenes, at special events or get involved every week, there’s loads of ways to inspire girls with Girlguiding. |
Fundraising
Selling old badges
Since 2008 we have been raising funds by selling obsolete guiding badges. It started by selling off the old badges from the back of the Brownie cupboard, and soon grew into a huge success with a dedicated website.
Since then we have raised over £20,000 and every penny of that goes towards giving the girls in our district the adventures of a lifetime. |
Creating our own badges
More recently, we have had a go at creating our own badge designs and, alongside the badges, we have provided a challenge pack full of activities for children to complete. We have sold these badges across the country, indeed even the world, and have a raised a considerable amount for the district in doing so.
