Archery club

In January 2022, we launched a brand new archery club for our local Girlguiding young members. This is an opportunity for youngsters to come and have a go at archery on a regular basis in a fun, relaxed environment. The pilot was so successful, we're now running regularly on a monthly basis and the sessions are open to any young member within the Gloucestershire West division, that's Dursley, Berkeley, Sharpness, Stonehouse, Wotton and all the little villages in between.

The sessions are run once a month by our volunteers, Anne and Clare, who are our archery instructors, plus other volunteers from the area also support on an ad hoc basis. Why not come along and join us?

Dates for 2024 are:
12 January, 9 February, 15 March, 12 April, 10 May, 14 June, 5 July, 13 September, 11 October, 8 November, 13 December

The sessions

The evening is broken down into two sessions as follows:
  • Session one: 6.00-7.00pm - This session is for young members aged 7-9 years. Maximum 12 girls.
  • Session two: 7.05-8.05pm -This session is for young members aged 9 years+. Maximum 12 girls.

Our venue is Berkeley Scout Hut, just off Park View Road, Berkeley, GL13 9TD.

Sessions cost just £3 per girl, per session. This helps us pay the hall rent and towards the upkeep of the equipment and consumables.

Each session is run by a volunteer who is a qualified archery instructor. A full risk assessment for the activity is also in place and available below if you wish to view it.

Booking your space(s)

Spaces are limited in each session because of the size of the hall. We can take a maximum of 12 young members in each of the sessions. Booking is therefore essential. Payment is taken at time of booking and is non-refundable. Please read the full parent/carer Information document below as well as the event booking terms & conditions on our booking site before signing up.

For unit leaders

We need leader support in two ways:
Promoting the club ...
Please help us by sharing the information about the club with your units. There is an A4 PDF poster and an image available via the buttons which can be printed and put up on unit noticeboards or shared on social media.

Occasional help ...
To make the club work, we will occasionally need another volunteer to join us. We will always have a minimum of one archery instructor and one other adult present. Please contact Anne if you are happy support the sessions occasionally.
