Dursley fireworks 2024We're happy to be back with a bang (pun intended!) in 2024. Put the date firmly in your diary for the Dursley Fireworks 2024 - 2 November.
No need to book, just turn up on the gates with your pennies to spend. Gates open at 5pm, fireworks start at 6pm. There are two sets of 10 minute displays, the first being a quieter more gentle set, and the second half with the louder bangs! Follow us on Facebook for the most up to date information about the 2024 event. The information below will be updated in August.
Save the Date: Saturday 4 November 2024

Our 2024 chosen charity - Great Western Air AmbulanceAfter our cancellation in 2023, we're keeping our chosen charity as the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC).
We've noticed an increase in the number of times this valuable service is flying across the skies of Dursley and the surrounding community, reaching out to support someone in their hour of need. We hope funds raised from this year's event will go some way to supporting such a worthwhile cause. Find out more about the amazing work that they do on their website or Facebook page. |
Dursley fireworks - safety information
Covid-19 - Covid-19 is still around, so we still have some Covid information that we ask all our visitors to read and follow to help us bring a safe event to the community.
In addition, our volunteers will:
These amendments may mean we are slightly slower than usual to get you through the gates or serve you on the stalls but everyone's safety is our top priority. We have brought in additional volunteers to try and counter-act this but we hope you will understand and support our continued Covid-secure measures.
- You must not attend the event if you have had a positive covid test or are showing any symptoms of Covid-19.
- Please be kind and courteous to others visitors to the event. There is plenty of field for everyone to be nicely distanced.
- When queueing to enter or at the stalls, please remain distanced from those in front and behind you.
- Hand sanitiser will be available on all the stalls for use by our customers. Items for sale will be on the back tables so that our volunteers only pass you the items you are purchasing.
In addition, our volunteers will:
- Be frequently using hand sanitiser or wearing gloves.
- Will be limited to just one job, eg someone taking money will not be able to support with making your burger to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.

Sparklers & personal fireworks - to help us keep everyone safe, these items are not permitted at the fireworks event.
Sparklers are Category 2 Fireworks in law and the Police can prosecute and fine you for using then in a public space. We want to keep everyone safe so we can all enjoy the evening. Thank you. Alcohol - There is a beer tent at the event. Items purchased at the event should be consumed there and not taken beyond the recreation ground boundary. Alcohol purchased elsewhere may not be brought into the event.

Our history
For many years the Round Table had organised a fireworks display for the people of Dursley to raise funds for local charities. Sadly in 2014 and 2015 there was no display and the Round Table decided they would no longer run this community event.
Girlguiding Dursley district agreed to host the event in 2016 so, on Saturday 5th November, the skies above Dursley were once again ignited with colour and sound as we presented the 'Dursley Fireworks 2016'. The event was a roaring success and we raised over £8,000.
Each year we have a chosen charity who benefit from at least 50% of the profits from the event. A small donation is given to the local organisations that helps us make it happen and the rest remains with Girlguiding Dursley district to help us provide amazing adventures for our young members.

2023A week of rain running up to the event meant the field was not fit for 2,500 visitors. We had to make the decision to cancel the event. Great Western Air Ambulance Charity will become our charity for 2024 instead.

2022Our biggest year yet with over £10,000 raised of which £5,000 is going to our chosen charity, the Stroud District Foodbank. £2,500 is going to the local organisations who helped.

20202020, as we will always remember, is the year the world stood still. With the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, we spent much of the year locked in our own homes and Zooming with people instead. Sadly there were no fireworks this year.
|
2019Bad weather meant a lower turnout from the public and we just drew even on the event. The Longfield will become our charity for 2020 instead.
|
2018An amazing £5,600 raised of which £2,000 went to our chosen charity, the Stroud District Food Bank. £1,050 was given to the local organisations who helped.
